Breastmilk Lathers FAQs

  • Once your package is received, processing can take 4-8 weeks to complete. The turnaround time for lathers to fully cure are 4-6 weeks and the additional 2 weeks is to package and ship!

Please note that this timeframe may vary depending on the influx of orders.

  • Yes, the lathers will be made using the buyer’s own breastmilk, just like the keepsake jewelry.

  • The amount of breastmilk needed depends on the quantity of lathers ordered. For example, if you purchase 3 lathers, you will need to send 1.5 oz (Β½ oz per lather).

Shipping costs are the responsibility of the sender, and breastmilk should be sent in a bubble mailer. Detailed packaging and shipping instructions, including the shipping address, will be provided in your confirmation email after purchase.

If you have any questions, please reach out to hello@empoweredmamajewelry.com.

  • Yes! The lather is formulated with breastmilk and other skin-nourishing ingredients, making it gentle and beneficial for the skin. It can be used on the face, but it's important to avoid direct contact with the eyes and mouth.

Breastmilk is known for its soothing and hydrating properties, making it a great addition to your skincare routine. However, as with any skincare product, if irritation occurs, discontinue use (never has happened with the lathers). If you have sensitive skin or allergies, we recommend doing a patch test before applying it to your face.

  • No, the breastmilk does not need to be fresh for the lathers. Frozen, expired, or previously stored breastmilk can all be used.

If your breastmilk has high lipase, which can cause a soapy or metallic smell, the lather-making process will help neutralize that odor, so it won’t be noticeable in the final product.

  • If purchased with our free shipping option for extra milk, these items will be shipped together. However, if additional shipping is purchased, they will be sent separately.

Combined orders are tracked internally and will not appear on the Order Status page to prevent confusion.

  • Yes! All lather add-ons are natural and selected to provide extra nourishment, soothing properties, and skin benefits. Common add-ons include oatmeal, honey, lavender, chamomile, and other gentle ingredients known for their hydrating and calming effects.

If you have a specific add-on in mind, you are welcome to request a custom addition. While I offer a curated selection of natural ingredients, I’ll do my best to accommodate special requests based on availability. If you have sensitivities or allergies, please reach out before ordering to ensure the best option for you.

  • Yes, you can send in donated breastmilk for your lather. The breastmilk used does not have to be your own, as long as it is properly stored and meets the required amount.

If you’re using donated milk, please make sure it is not moldy or mixed with formula or other substances. The lather-making process will preserve its skin-nourishing properties, making it beneficial for both your skin and your baby’s skin.

If you have any concerns or special requests, feel free to reach out before placing your order.

  • Yes! You can use "pump and dump" breastmilk for your lather. Since the breastmilk is not being consumed, it is still perfectly fine to use in the lather-making process.

As long as the milk is not moldy and hasn’t been mixed with formula or other substances, it can still provide its nourishing and soothing benefits for the skin.

Please notify me in the order notes if you are using "pump and dump" milk, as it requires a different hand-preserved process for the lather. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out before ordering.

  • The longevity of a lather depends on how often it is used and how it is stored. On average, lathers last 4-8 weeks with proper care.

To extend its lifespan, treat it like a bar of soapβ€”keep it dry between uses by placing it on a soap dish with proper drainage and avoid leaving it in standing water, as this can cause it to dissolve faster.

Care instructions will be provided in your package to help maximize its longevity. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

  • No, you do not need to keep the lather in the fridge between uses. Store it like a regular bar of soapβ€”in a dry, well-ventilated area on a soap dish with drainage to prevent it from dissolving too quickly.

If you have extra lathers that you’re not using immediately, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keeping them in their original packaging or an airtight container can help preserve their quality until you're ready to use them.
